If Islam really was a divine truth, and Sharia Law was so spectacular and flawless, then the countries that follow it so religiously (pardon the pun) would not be as backwater and destitute as they are. Brian Greene is discussing ideas here that are far more spectacular and wondrous than those mentioned in any "holy" book. Please keep the conversation focused on the video.

awesome lecture. now I know why they are pursuing string theory. I hope they get to an answer soon, proof or dis-proof, we can move on to bigger things

It would be better if they showed strings as a specific shape, they always show it as erratic strings that have no pattern. Yet in this video he is trying to explain to us that they have a particular pattern that creates a specific quart.

its in the math...and math has predicted everything from atoms (which we have pictures of now to black holes which we might get pictures of soon. math is amazing. it gives these theorys credibility and thats why we are smashing atoms in billion dollar machines in europe. ignore spelling i dont care im tired lol. take the idea...

What don't you get? its what Einstein meant when he asked "if you changed the dials, what would change" He means if you changed the complex mathematics are universe relies on how different would it be. For example the big bang if was changed ever so slightly in how it happened would have either made the universe expand too fast to create galaxies or too slow to create matter at all.

Just because you can't test a theory doesn't mean its a made up story. Well it is if you think about it, but its an attempt to explain the universe we live in. So have some respect for them. |
